Pauline Wayne was a gift to the Taft family from Wisconsin senator Isaac Stephenson and provided milk for the family. Pauline Wayne was allowed to freely roam the White House lawn and graze and was the last cow to reside at the White House. After Taft's term was up, Pauline Wayne spent the rest of her days back in Wisconsin.
